Lead Barista/FOH Position

Compensation: $20/hour

The Lead Barista/FOH is responsible for overseeing daily front-of-house operations, setting the tone for exceptional customer service, and ensuring a consistently high-quality guest experience. This role combines hands-on barista skills with leadership responsibilities, guiding the team in efficiency, hospitality, and professionalism.

What Is Expected:

  • Minimum 4 shifts a week, able to cover shifts if needed on occasion 

  • Make and serve espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and specialty beverages consistently and with care

  • Help lead the FOH team through daily shifts — opening, closing, and everything in between

    • Help design a system for each FOH “role” based on the shift they are doing.

    • Eg: opening = lead barista, second FOH = running food, supporting on register, third FOH = relieve opener for lunch, second barista, food running (this is a new project/system we can work together on to implement) 

  • Train, support, and motivate baristas to keep service smooth and welcoming

    • Assist with training new hires when FOH Manager is not on shift to do so

  • Keep an eye on quality — from how drinks are prepared to how the café looks and feels

  • Assist with inventory, ordering on occasion, and keeping supplies stocked

    • Specifically keep track of the bulk tea inventory for loose leaf and cold drink teas

  • Be the go-to for customer questions or concerns, keeping the vibe positive and professional when Angela is not there

  • Work with management to improve systems and overall flow to maximize efficiency

    • Training and onboarding systems at the Grove (e.g menu knowledge for both food and drink)

  • Make sure health and safety standards are always being followed and report to Angela if you notice cleaning standards are getting neglected
